Origin: Descended from the Roman Molossus.
Description: Medium size not more than 20 inches. Weight about 55-66 pounds. It has powerful jaws, small but lively chestnut eyes and V shaped pendant ears. Its tail is docked at birth and should not be more than 4-6 inches. It has short, thick, closefitting hair, that is hard and glossy. Color is black with brown and white markings which should be symmetrical.
Personality: It is adaptable to a variety of jobs and environments, and is tireless and attentive at its work. It is extremely strict with cows, but extraordinarily gently with children.
Uses: It is regarded as a strict guardian and defender of the herd, stable, hut, and house. This dog is very gentle, cheerful, amusing, and friendly, inclined above all to playing with children, and if necessary defending them.
